The area of Bang Por is located on the north west coast of Koh Samui where tourist activity is low key compared with the popular areas in the north east and is classed as family friendly. It has a beautiful palm fringed coastline with a ‘walking’ beach stretching from Ban Tai beach to the rocky headland at Laem Noi beach. Swimming is possible most times of the year when they tide is not too low exposing the offshore coral reef.
Bang Por boasts excellent beachside restaurants, health and wellness spa retreats, beach resorts and hotels, including the luxurious Four Seasons Resort in the north west corner of the island.
Bang Por is within 30 minutes of the airport and just 10 minutes from Nathon, Koh Samui's main ferry port and administrative centre with its numerous shops, bars and restaurants.
Many of the first Koh Samui villa rentals available with thier own private swimming pools were located in Bang Por in the hills above the beach. They offered amazing west facing sunset views over the Angthong National Marine Park or stunning views over to the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan.
Beach projects in the form of Thai style beach houses were also popular in the early days but we are now seeing an ever increasing development of luxury contemporary design villas both in the hills and beachfront in this stunning north west corner of Koh Samui.

There are a number of rustic Thai style restaurants along the beach stretching from Ban Tai at the east to Bang Po at the west and all offering the stunning views over to the island of Koh Phangan.

Should you wish to have ultra delicious and very good value Thai food - visit The Terrace restaurant run by a local Thai familylocated at Ban Tai come highly recommended. It is not in the best position just a few steps from the busy roadside, but in just a few minutes the environment you are in seated in a tropical garden has taken you to another place !
