The area of Hua Thanon is best known for the actual village itself located a short drive from the lively town of Lamai along the south coast of Koh Samui..
The village is a place where it appears that time has stood still as the old 2 storey wooden shop houses are still in existence when the Chinese settlors first arrived on Koh Samui creating a charming atmosphere.
The main lifestyle then was the fishing industry and still exists having changed very little and the area is well worth a visit to watch the fishermen with their photogenic colourful painted boats bring in their catch to the large fish market situated in one of the side streets.
With a mostly Muslim community here you will find the only mosque on the island and together with a Chinese Shrine and the usual Buddha images it is rare to see different religions places of worship situated so close together.
Our villas in Hua Thanon in the less developed south of Koh Samui are mostly located in a purpose built beachside holiday village on beautiful Natien Beach on the outskirts of the village.
The beach is sandy but as there is an offshore coral reef the waters inshore are shallow and not swimmable. The wide sands however especially in the summer months provide the perfect venue for kite surfing and other beach activities.
Villas in this area can be viewed in our Resort Private Villa collection
