If you were wondering about the name, Anar is the ancient Persian name for the pomegranate fruit though over the centuries the name has been adopted by a great many Indic, Turkic and Euro-Asian languages. And ‘Anar’ was the name for the sun in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth writings including The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. That latter reference is significant because Villa Anar is positioned perfectly so that you can enjoy the sunrise to the east each morning and the stunning sunsets to the west in the early evening.

As you approach the villa your eyes are drawn straight away to the ocean that laps gently onto the beach just a few steps from the villa. On your right are two of the en-suite bedrooms, the Thai kitchen and the main living, dining and guest kitchen. To the left are a further two en-suite bedrooms plus the Master bedroom which overlooks the ocean.

In-between the bedrooms is a lawn, cascading water features and a large swimming pool with Jacuzzi and shallower depths that are ideal for younger children. And as the pool is 12 metres by 6 metres you can comfortably get some laps in should you feel like swimming rather than paddling. There is also a large lawn between the pool and the beach (7 metres from the pool to the beach-front wall), an outdoor decking area, massage sala and footbath so you can clean your feet as you step off the beach and plenty of space for everyone to relax on the sun-loungers.

But let’s step into the main indoor living and dining area. It’s glass-fronted from floor to ceiling on two sides allowing lots of natural daylight and fantastic views of the beach and the sea. And of course it is fully air-conditioned as are all the bedrooms.

Inside there are very comfortable sofas and a huge wall-mounted flat screen TV should you wish to catch up on the international news or watch sports or the latest movies. And there is an excellent sound system with speakers indoors and outdoors, the latter being disguised as a natural rock so that it blends in beautifully within the garden and beach.

There is large teak dining table that seats ten and a fully-fitted guest kitchen within the main living area. Along with a breakfast bar and stools, the open-plan guest kitchen also has a fridge/freezer, a temperature controlled wine-cooler, a table top hob, an oven, an integrated coffee machine, a dishwasher plus all the crockery, cutlery and glassware you could ever need. All of the appliances are of the very highest quality manufactured by Küppersbusch the renowned German company.

The villa comes with a private chef as well as a Villa Manager and domestic staff. The chef has a separate commercial kitchen so that any cooking aromas don’t permeate throughout the main living area. Your chef can also host a Thai cooking class for you and take you and your guests to the local daily markets which they visit every day for the freshest produce.

Directly across from the living room is the Master bedroom which overlooks the ocean. And you can step directly from the Master bedroom into the swimming pool. It has a large bathroom with a separate shower and an enticing Terrazzo bath big enough for two.

All of the bedrooms are just a step or two from the pool and as you look around them and around the villa you’ll see lots of very interesting design features and ornamentation.

The interior design was carried out by an expert interior design team who have worked on countless award-winning properties throughout Thailand and Indonesia. As they explained, their brief was to encompass the modern and the traditional. “The first thing that strikes you about Villa Anar is the stunning views and we wanted to bring a contemporary yet minimalist feel to each and every room in the villa. In the main living area we accentuated the natural brightness and gave a focus to each part; the living room; the dining area and the guest kitchen. And we looked at each bedroom as separate entities and the artwork was specifically created by our Indonesian artists for each bedroom. These are bespoke prints, unique to Villa Anar. We also accessorized each room with carefully chosen ornaments and Jim Thompson fabrics and each room has its own unique style.”

A Covid-19 Safety Programme 

A programme to further enhance our cleaning procedures is to fully sanitise every villa after the guests have checked out giving all future guests further peace of mind during these uncertain times and will include the following procedures:

• Pre-arrival deep clean and full sanitization by staff in PPE using electrostatic sprayers and hospital grade disinfectants
• Staff to wear face masks made to order (unless guests request otherwise)
• Face masks available for guests on request
• Compulsory temperature check for all villa staff at the beginning of every day. Any staff with a temperature higher than 37.5C sent home told to self-isolate and seek medical advice.
• Compulsory temperature check on any contractors or agents entering the villa and recorded in villa book which MUST be completed.
• All high-touch items sanitized twice daily such as handles, knobs, light switches, faucets etc
• Sanitize bathrooms twice daily
• Bedroom door sealed after deep clean and sanitization and no-one is to enter until the guest breaks the seal on arrival
• Hand sanitizers in common areas
• Wet alcohol sanitizer wipes in guest bedrooms
• Paper towels only in common toilets with peddle bin
• Air-cons small filter cleaned after every booking and large filters as deemed necessary I.e after every three bookings
• Temperature checks on guests on arrival
